Could it be this or that or both or neither?

I have been meaning trying to write this posting for a few weeks now.  At the same time we were getting the news on Katie and Jenny's ear at the beginning of September (the first doctor we saw), there were things going on with Erin that I wasn't sure how to handle it (and still not totally sure). In a span of 5 days (labor day weekend to Wednesday after Labor day), I felt my world was falling
